The Horrors reach new heights with their latest album…

I’ll be honest, I’ve long heard of The Horrors but never really taken the time to listen to their music; perceiving them to be a band concerned with style over substance. But then, yesterday a plethora of great music blogs started raving about their new album ‘Skying’ which was available for live streaming from their website.  With curiosity seeping into my soul, I clicked over and ended up listening to the album on repeat ALL day.  Skyline offers a rather laid back yet broody musical journey through some vast and lush soundscapes. Winding through fields of new wave synth rock, psychedelia and shoegaze with moments of driving guitars, rousing brass entries (in the vein of Primal Scream), 80′s style uplifting synths, then happening upon the seaside with some playful Wurlitzer and breezy chords -  this is a musical trip I urge you to take.  Skyline is sublime. Listen to the full album here…(my personal favourite - ‘Endless Blue’.)

Out on Monday 11th July (XL Recordings)

Official video for ‘Still Life‘ (Directed by Oliver Murray) taken from the album…
