Introducing…To Kill A King

Our band of the month for February is the rather marvellous and hotly tipped To Kill A King. Similar in sounds to The National, Mystery Jets and Mumford & Sons, the London based band were formed back in 2009 by University of Leeds students (at the time) Ralph Pelleymounter (the soulful voiced frontman), Ian Dudfield and Josh Platman. The trio initially operated under the name Kid iD but with the enhancement of the band with newcomers Jonathan Willoughby and Ben Jackson they commenced a fresh start, renaming the band To Kill A King. (A pretty good name if you ask me - inspired by the British film of the same name which explores the English Civil War.)

Check them out for yourselves…

Here’s a great cover of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Maps”

And their debut single ‘Fictional State’ (released on Communion last year - Communion was co-founded by Ben Lovett, a member of the hugely successful Britfolk outfit Mumford & Sons.)
