Salford born Ren (short for Lauren) Harvieu was 12 years old when she made her live debut in a school talent contest. Years later, she was ‘discovered’ by her manager after uploading some demos to her myspace page.
Even though she has been compared to Lana Del Ray, Amy Winehouse, Adele and even Dusty Springfield, she’s very much a unique artist with her own distinctive, subtle sound. Her music is a potent mix of classic soul, country and pop. Some have labelled it ‘retro’, but only in a good way in so far as Ren recognises her influences and musical heritage. The quality of her songs and her ethereal but powerful voice combine to make Ren an artist for both today and the future.
